What’s your wedding vision?

Webster’s dictionary defines vision as “something that you imagine; a picture that you see in your mind”.

A lot of people have always had a picture in their mind of what their wedding would look like while others have never really thought about it. Regardless of what category you fall into, its important to have a clearly defined and written out vision for your wedding day. It’s very easy to get carried away with what your friends are doing for their weddings or what’s on social media and end up with a wedding that doesn’t reflect you or your fiancé. Having a clearly defined wedding vision will help you with decision making and staying focused during the planning process.

Here are some key questions to ask yourselves when thinking about how you want your wedding to be:
– What would your dream wedding look like?
– Where would it be?
– How do you want to feel on the day?
– What do you want to experience?
– Who would you have around you?
– How do you want your guests to feel at your wedding?

When writing out your wedding vision, consider the following elements:
– Location: where would you like your wedding to be? In your home town, city centre, country side, abroad?
– Size: do you want an intimate, medium-sized or large wedding? This will affect how your guest list is created.
– Top 3 priorities: what are the top 3 elements that are extremely important you? This could range from music, food, décor to your dress. These are the things you will focus on the most.
– Non negotiables: what are the things you cant do without on your wedding day or are not willing to compromise on.
– Theme: what would you like your wedding theme to be? Elegant, classic, retro, vintage etc?
– Season: what season would you like your wedding to fall on? Summer, winter, spring or summer? This would help you with choosing your wedding date. Remember if you want an outdoor wedding, the season you choose must be outdoor weather friendly.
