First thing to do as soon as you get engaged!

Congratulations, you are now engaged! So…. what’s next?

By now, you’ve probably shared the amazing news with your friends and family and posted it on social media. I’m sure people have already started with their questions – “When’s the wedding, where’s the wedding, who are you going to invite?”

Before you get overwhelmed with these questions or with wedding planning here are 8 things to do first:

1. Enjoy being engaged – take some time to bask in your love and enjoy being engaged. Before getting bogged down with activity and planning, just take this moment in.

2. Get your ring sized and insured – This is the time to make sure that beautiful ring fits perfectly on your finger; we don’t want you losing your ring! But we know sometimes these things happen, so make sure you get your ring insured for any loss theft or damage.

5. Discuss the budget – I know we don’t always like talking about money but finances in wedding planning is key. Discuss how much the wedding you envision will cost, how much you can actually afford for the wedding and where the money is coming from. Once you’ve done this, you can start allocating costs to various items. Download our budget spreadsheet here

6. Choose a date – Now its time to choose a date for your big day! More details of how to choose the perfect date is coming in another blog.

7. Find a venue – once you’ve decided on budget and you have created your vision worksheet, you will have a rough idea of the number of people you will be having at your wedding. Based on that information, you can start sourcing for the perfect venue. More details of venue sourcing is coming up in a subsequent blog.

8. Select your bridal party – This is the fun part! Start speaking to your closest friends and family and ask them to be a part of your bridal party. You can get creative with the bridal party proposals; it usually gets everyone super excited for the wedding.
